Big update today: We've meaningfully upgraded our AI capabilities inside Notion. You can now do much more complex things (computer + browser use!), let the AI run much longer (up to 24 hours!), and do all of this in a much more secure setup.

We've also overhauled our pricing and packaging. Instead of having different products on different versions of our plans, all AI capabilities now run on credits.

The vast majority of you will never have to think about credits because a) you'll have plenty to use each month, and b) the new auto-mode makes things an order of magnitude more efficient.

Our most advanced users will now have the flexibility to choose the best intelligence-to-price option. This includes bringing your ChatGPT subscription, using your own tokens (via BYOK), leveraging MCP, or buying credits from us (only when the math makes sense!).

The credit model is similar to what several other companies (Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor) have adopted over the past year. We're adopting it today so we can keep bringing you the most advanced AI capabilities while giving you more control over what you use and what you spend.

So I built a portable context vault in Notion and connected every agent to it. They write back new memories, skills, and preferences, then sync each morning.

Now, whenever I try a new agent, the first thing I do is connect my vault, and it instantly gets all my preferences in one shot. I can also start a project with one agent, and switch over to another seamlessly.

Random thought:

We used to build products designed to work 99.9% of the time. With AI, I wonder if hitting that bar too early means you’re not being ambitious enough. If today’s models can reliably do everything your product promises, what are you leaving on the table?

Maybe the sweet spot is a set of capability that models can complete 50–70% of the time: often enough for users to experience the magic, but hard enough that you’re pushing the limits of what’s possible. You’re building for capabilities that are just coming into reach.

Then, 3–6 months later, better models push your completion rate toward 90%+. That’s your cue to raise your ambition until you’re back at 70%. The loop is to keep expanding what your product attempts as models get better at delivering it.

This project is one of my favorite examples of engineering leverage this year. 

We used to handcraft each MCP connection one by one, then try to keep up with all the changes. 

The team decided to do something different: build an autonomous factory that creates high-quality connections and maintains them in real time. 

Took some time to get right, but it’s an incredible machine now. We went from ~10 MCP connections to 150+, and we’ll keep adding more.

Been noticing behavior shifts the more I work with Grok @bot + @NotionHQ. 

First, I created a new Notion Workspace just to test things out with Grok Bot. 

Second, the Notion Workspace then became the "source of truth" for my other agents, very quickly. 

Third, the instructions here (developers.notion.com/prompts/setup) ended up becoming super useful for refining the Agents coordination skills.

Fourth, I'm getting the hang of Bot-based coordination (with trusty Notion dbs in the bg). Since my Chief of Staff knows to default logs to Notion (instead of its own computer), it seems to have made things better for review back and forth. 

Fifth, my bots are organized via the 1:3:5 rule of Conscious Stack Design™. So our community gets to see how our framework is applied across anything (including bots).

I recently went on a ride-along with SFPD through SoMa, the Tenderloin, Nob Hill, Hayes Valley, and the Mission to see the overnight street conditions. There were bright spots, including 24th and Mission, but it’s clear that fentanyl remains a crisis in our city.

I’ve asked SFPD, Muni, SFFD, the Sheriff’s Office, Rec and Park, and our major city departments to prioritize addressing these overnight conditions.

We will stay focused on delivering the basics for San Franciscans and keeping our streets safe and welcoming for everyone who uses them.

why? notion runs many queries in transactions so we can use pgbouncer txn pooling + SET LOCAL; many reads look like this:

// rare txns sometimes do more reads
await query(sql`COMMIT`)

pipelining which reduces network round trips from N → 1 for reads and N → 2 for writes (tho maybe its fine to pipeline COMMIT there also)

“We’re thinking about: how are all the agents and the Claude Code instances going to use Notion directly themselves, right? Both the Notion product, and just how will they collaborate more broadly?

And so we’re thinking a lot about a world where, for most knowledge, agents are the counterparties on both sides. How does an agent sign up for Notion? How does an agent use Notion? Is MCP enough? What should the Notion CLI do? How do we make sure that everything in Notion can be orchestrated and conducted from the CLI, or in some other way that is accessible to agents? How will agents collaborate with each other? What surface will they use?

The Notion house view is that most knowledge will be between agents within, call it, three years.
It may not be the case that most of the knowledge volume is directly between agents, but I’ll be sort of surprised if there isn’t just a whirling vortex of reasonably small agent-to-agent collaboration.”

Crazy few weeks for model releases! Our findings @Databricks show several new models meaningfully advance the pareto frontier. Results below (online workload analysis of N=2,400 engineers, plus offline evals):

Two of the three models released last week clearly expand the cost/quality frontier: Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Luna.
Opus 5.5 is now the highest quality mid-tier model. It is better than all prior Opus models, better than GPT-6 Sol, and better than GPT-5.6 Sol.
Opus 5.5 reduces same-task costs consistently by 20% in both offline and online analysis. This is against a baseline of Opus 4.8, the prior least-cost Opus model (Opus 5.0 was a bit of a dud with high costs and barely noticeable quality improvements).
Due to best-in-class quality and lower costs, Opus 5.5 is a strong candidate as an “every day default” model for coding, and we are now encouraging it for this purpose at Databricks.
GPT-6 Luna is very, very, very cheap. It was at least 20 times cheaper per-task than Opus 5.5 in every offline benchmark we tested and in observed online use.
GPT-6 Luna is surprisingly capable given how cheap it is. On one of our most difficult evaluation suites it roughly matches Opus 4.6 performance, while being 99.3% cheaper per-task than Opus 4.6 was at that time. That's a 100X cost reduction in ~9 months! This finding is preliminary and we are still evaluating Luna quality on a broader set of offline and online tests.

Our production setup: Unity Gateway to route workloads across models and trace agentic interactions. A mix of end-user harnesses including: Omingent (meta-harness), Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.
